David Ord had two Sunday winners, including a 28/1 chance – now Ben Linfoot has the best Sunday bets.
Chaturanga – 5.27 Newcastle (NAP)
Archie Watson is flying with his Newcastle runners this year and Chaturanga There could be another in the Get Raceday Ready Handicap over 10 furlongs at Newcastle on Sunday. This horse was beaten by more than a mile in a good handicap at Newmarket last time, so he finished well for fifth out of 13. His dam is left at 10 furlongs and judging by his running style, he can improve significantly now that he runs a bit further.
EYED – 3.15 Plumpton
Paul Weber the eye Must appreciate going left in Emily Mellett’s 21st Birthday Handicap Chase at Plumpton. He has run well at Huntingdon the last two times, but he jumped to the left last time out and that hampered his progress. Plumpton looks perfect in this regard and looks to be on the right track if he can pull it all together.
Zukayan – 3.28 Ludlow
Zukayan CAN return to the Welsh Guards Association Handicap Hurdle at Ludlow, the scene of his two career victories. Fergal O’Brien’s seven-year-old has won here with scores of 97 and 99, so he has a clear chance from 102, with Nick Slater taking five pounds off his back. He ran well on his return to Hereford and that should set him up for his latest Ludlow assignment.
A lot of Clive Cox’s horses have looked nice and smart this spring and it’s worth taking a chance on fitness. Kate’s content For the first time, who finished last season running second in this six-furlong trip to Salisbury. He hasn’t won since making his first start as a 2-year-old, but it’s hard to rank three-year-old fillies with his kind of rating, and he didn’t do badly at all last season. It’s a great starting point and if he’s ready to roll, I think he’ll take the finish line under Rosa Ryan.
PADDY DE POLE – 2.30 Hereford
No need to desert POLE PADDY As he bids for a hat-trick at Hereford. Paul Nicholls’ six-year-old flourished after coming on good ground this spring, winning at Plumpton by a 100-furlong, before winning a 100-furlong at Wincanton under Jody Soll over the same two-and-a-half mile distance a week later. Freddie Gyngell, aboard Plumpton’s Success, is back in the saddle and up another 2lb to 109, with more to come before the sun shines.
Gathanfar – 4.47 Catterick
will be taken It’s a bit of a loss, but he’s slipped down a really dangerous line, and now he’s in the company of “veterans” in Catterick, with one of his own to help his cause too. Tracy Waggott’s charge is on the back of an encouraging return when third in the Strike at Windsor at the end of last month and the runner-up that day has capped his form with another fine effort in defeat since. Gahanfar is just shy of the 70 mark, 13 pounds below where he was last successful and 20 pounds below where he started last season.
Big Dream – 6.20 Wolverhampton
big dream Looks beautifully processed running off the same mark as when the second return-form white umbrella on this road and trip two weeks ago. Anthony McKenney’s gelding finished two lengths third that night and, having won over seven furlongs here in February, looks set to find success in the sprint.
